vodka / Comparisons
A free Luarmor alternative. What to know first.
vodka is free for creators and players, with no subscription and no cut of your earnings. Here is what free means, what carries over from Luarmor, and what to check before you switch.
The short version
Free, and clear about what that means.
vodka is a Lua and Luau script-protection and key-management platform, and using it is free. Editing source, building protected releases, configuring access and distributing your loadstring all cost nothing, for you and for your players. There is no creator subscription and no per-script fee.
Free does not mean vodka holds your money and pays you later. It means the platform stays out of the money entirely. If you monetize, you connect your own ad-link provider and that provider pays you directly. vodka takes no cut. Resource limits and platform rules still apply, and optional player premium is priced separately. It is not a paid creator plan.
The honest comparison
Different tools, documented side by side.
We keep a dated, sourced comparison with Luarmor so you can check the differences yourself rather than take a slogan for it. It compares documented workflows: creator cost, how you write and release, how each protects code, how source is stored, and the access and integration options.
It is not an independent security or speed benchmark, and it does not rank one service above the other. vodka uses its own protection pipeline rather than a third-party obfuscator, and that is a difference in implementation, not a claim that it is harder to break. Read the full vodka and Luarmor comparison with its references before you decide.
Moving your users
Your existing keys can come with you.
The thing most people worry about when switching is their users. vodka has a bulk key importer: export your current keys, paste them onto a script, and they keep verifying as they are. Your players do not have to redeem a new key, and you do not have to hand out a new loader just to swap key systems.
What does not carry over is the rest of the project. Account history, users, remaining durations and your old loader URL do not migrate automatically. You recreate your access rules in vodka, test a protected release, then distribute the new vodka loadstring. The migration guide walks through it one working script at a time.
Before you switch
Check these before you move a community.
- Your script actually runs. Test your original source and its runtime environment on a protected build before anything else.
- Your key flow behaves. Recreate your tasks, lifetimes and HWID rules, then test valid, expired and revoked keys.
- Your integrations exist. vodka ships its own Discord bot and supports your own work.ink, LootLabs or Linkvertise link. Confirm the pieces you depend on are present.
- You have a way back. Keep your current working setup available during the transition, and tell users what is changing before you switch the loader.
Questions
A few things worth knowing.
01Is vodka really free, with no catch for creators?
Yes. Editing source, building protected releases, configuring access and distributing your loadstring cost nothing, for you and your players. There is no platform subscription and no cut of your earnings. If you monetize, your own ad-link provider pays you directly. Resource limits and platform rules apply, and optional player premium is a separate, player-facing purchase.
02Does vodka use Luraph?
No. vodka uses its own integrated protection pipeline with a per-function Luau bytecode VM and source transformations. Luarmor advertises Luraph integration. These are different implementations, and this is not a security or performance ranking.
03Can I keep my existing Luarmor keys?
The key strings, yes. vodka has a bulk key importer, so your existing keys keep verifying for your current users without a re-redeem. Project history, users and remaining durations do not carry over, and there is no full project or loader importer, so you recreate access rules and distribute the new vodka loadstring after testing.
