vodka / A MoonSec alternative
A free MoonSec alternative. The full key system, not just obfuscation.
MoonSec is a paid obfuscator. vodka is a free platform that protects your script and runs the whole key system around it, with benchmarks you can reproduce. Here is the honest comparison.

The short version
Obfuscation is one layer of the job.
vodka is a free Lua and Luau script-protection and key-management platform. It protects your source and, in the same place, runs the key system, delivery and monetization around it. There is no creator subscription and no per-script fee.
MoonSec is a paid, dedicated obfuscator. A specialist tool can be strong at the one thing it does, and we do not claim to beat it on raw code strength. What vodka offers is the complete, free pipeline rather than the obfuscation step on its own.
A distinct scheme
vodka's protected output is Luau source with its own protection scheme, not a chunk in another tool's bytecode format.
Deobfuscators written for a specific obfuscator do not transfer to it. That is a property of the output, not a ranking.
What you get with it
The platform around the protection.
A server-enforced key system
Free-key tasks, key lifetimes, HWID locks, revocation and a blacklist, all decided on the server where the loader cannot bypass them. Or ship a protected loadstring with no key system at all.
Each keyed delivery carries a traceable fingerprint, so a casually leaked copy maps back to the key that received it.
Delivery, bot and API
Publish once for a stable loadstring that future builds reuse, so your players keep the same link. A ready-to-use Discord bot handles redemption, tickets and moderation.
A scoped developer API lets you issue and revoke keys and read stats, so you can automate the whole flow.
Why benchmarks matter
Measured, not asserted.
vodka measures the exact engine that protects every build with a committed harness, stamped with the seed and date to reproduce it, and it publishes what the protection does not defeat. A closed, paid obfuscator you upload to cannot offer that, because the engine is not yours to run.
This is not a security ranking of one tool over another. It is the difference between evidence you can check and a claim you have to take on trust. Read the benchmarks and run the commands yourself.
Where protection ends
Honest about the boundary.
No client-side obfuscator can make a delivered secret unrecoverable. An authorized client receives the code it runs, so running the loader can recover the strings and reverse the arithmetic. This is true of every obfuscator, vodka included, and we will not pretend otherwise.
What protection does is raise the cost of casual inspection and copying. What actually gates access is server-side: the key check, expiry, revocation and HWID locks are all enforced where the client never sees how the decision was made. Keep anything that must stay secret on a server, and read the benchmarks for exactly what the engine does and does not defeat.

Where to go next.
Reproducible benchmarks
Run the exact harness yourself: protection resistance, runtime overhead and the weaknesses we do not hide.
The key system
Free-key tasks, HWID locks, revocation and a Discord bot, enforced on the server rather than in the loader.
What it costs
Free for creators and players. Monetize with your own ad-link provider; the platform never holds the money.

Questions
A few things worth knowing.
01Is vodka a free MoonSec alternative?
Yes. vodka is free for creators and players and does more than obfuscate: it runs the key system, delivery and monetization around your protected script. MoonSec is a paid, dedicated obfuscator. The difference is scope and price, not a claim that vodka obfuscates more strongly.
02Is vodka's obfuscation stronger than MoonSec?
We do not claim a ranking. A dedicated paid obfuscator can be strong at the one job it does. vodka's protected output uses its own scheme and comes with a full key system and published, reproducible benchmarks, which is a different offer rather than a claim to beat a specialist.
03Does vodka include a key system and HWID locking?
Yes. Free-key tasks, lifetimes, HWID locks, revocation and a blacklist are built in and enforced on the server. There is also a Discord bot, a developer API and per-key leak tracing, none of which an obfuscator on its own provides.
04Can I prove how good the protection is?
You can run the proof. vodka ships a committed benchmark harness with seeds and dates and an honest list of what it does not defeat. A closed paid service cannot hand you that, because you cannot run their engine.
